What is a Co-op?
A cooperative preschool is a non-profit organization of parents who organize and cooperate together to set up and maintain a nursery school for their children. The parents take charge of the school administration while teachers are responsible for the educational program.
Benefits for being a participating parent are a reduced cost in preschool program, the involvement with your child in the classroom and networking with other parents.
Expectations of all parents: The co-op parent participates by working duty days in the school, usually one morning every 2 weeks. All parents at the preschool are required to attend membership meetings and serve on 2 committees and perform 1 housekeeping duty.
For security reasons, all participating parents are required to undergo a police reference check in order to work with the children.
